Fair Trade

Fairtrade Label South Africa is an non-for-profit that was established in 2008, but signed a Marketing Agreement with Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International (FLO) on 14 April 2009, to market the internationally known Fairtrade Label on the South African market.

The main objectives of Fairtrade Label South Africa are:
- to promote the Fairtrade Label in South Africa;
- to promote social and economic development among the beneficiary community;
- to liaise with Labeling Initiatives globally and Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International (FLO);
- to develop the market for Fairtrade labeled products in South Africa

South Africa was the first wine producing country to have a Fairtrade accredited label, and subsequently has the most Fairtrade labels of all wine producing countries in the world.
