July…a month to celebrate Shiraz – 5 Top wine farms to share a Shiraz in Paarl
It is officially Shiraz month, with International Shiraz day falling on the 28th July this year, and so we raise our glasses in honour of this perfect for Winter, full-bodied, decadently dark red wines! To get you in the mood (as if you needed any encouragement...), we’ve compiled a shortlist of wonderful wine farms at which to celebrate this auspicious occasion.
LABORIE WINE FARM
“Crafted with excellence”, Laborie Wine Estate’s award-winning wines can be enjoyed either on a day visit for a picnic, bistro-style dining at Stoep, enjoying their Mediterranean cuisine at Cucina Di Giovanni, at their newly opened cocktail and tapas bar – Suzanne, or for a relaxing overnight stay at their beautiful heritage manor house. PERDEBERG WINES
The Classic Collection Shiraz from Perderberg Wines, is a deliciously intense wine that you can enjoy at their country kitchen style family-friendly restaurant, EAT. DIEMERSFONTEIN WINE AND COUNTRY ESTATE
The Diemersfontein Estate is tucked in the heart of the Paarl winelands and has a beautiful, serene setting that you will fall in love with. Their comfortable cottages and garden rooms are perfect for a weekend away from the city bustle. While enjoying the much needed time away, be sure to dine at their contemporary bistro, Hope Restaurant, or indulge in a world class wine tasting experience at the Tasting Room. NEDERBURG WINES
Situated on the outskirts of the historic Paarl valley, Nederburg Wines is a well-known wine farm with a rich history and award-winning wines. The Manor at Nederburg is a lovely place to celebrate Shiraz month where they’re known to “place special emphasis on authentic and nostalgic food experiences featuring simple yet elegant dishes that honour our South African heritage.” Enjoy a breakfast, lunch or picnic with the family surrounded by lush gardens where you’ll feel completely grounded.
