FESTIVAL OF SOUTH AFRICAN WINES IN MOSCOW

Another exciting and effective event was held in Russia! The 6th annual Festival of South African Wines in Moscow took place on 28 April at the Metropol Hotel, right in the center of the Russian capital. More than 50 South African wine brands were presented to Russian wine professionals and consumers: sommeliers, journalists, experts, etc.   The Festival has been firmly entrenched in the calendar of wine events in Moscow. Over the years it proved to be an efficient platform for understanding the requirements of the market, testing new  brands and styles and exchanging the ideas about wines. This year over 600 guests visited the Festival and enjoyed the wide variety of South African offerings.

The Festival  was held just after the South African National Day and was strongly supported by the Embassy of SA in Russia. The new South African Ambassador Nomathonto Maria Sibanda-Thusi delivered a brief welcoming address to the Festival participants and guests and attended two seminars.

The seminars were: "The Wine of Origin Scheme in South Africa" and "Presentation of KWV Wine & Brandy Portfolio". 

The smaller follow-up events are planned in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Kiev, Ukraine, in June this year.
