WINES OF SOUTH AFRICA 5th GRAND TASTING LUANDA, ANGOLA 2015

In 2011 Wines of South hosted the first ever generic wine tasting in Luanda, Angola presenting a range of wines from different regions of the Cape winelands.

5 years on we have gone from strength to strength and ran the show over 3 days and started with presentation of a South African Wine Course on day1 where we had representatives from importers/distributors and F&B managers from hotels & restaurants attend the course and were awarded certificates.

The wine show opened on Day 2 which was well attended at SWITCH Restaurant Epic Sana Hotel and was an exclusive trade & media tasting. We then carried on through to a busy Day 3 tasting which was for consumers at Chitaka Restaurant also in Luanda. This worked very well with over 150 guests attending per show and all these activities took place during a build-up to the Luanda Carnival and our event had great exposure during these festivities.

Looking back I was reminded of how unsuccessful our first event was with low attendance, but today with perseverance and better understanding of the market we have created a South African event that is now so recognized in Angola that the trade, media and consumers look forward to every year.

We had positive feedback from exhibitors who are confident that our efforts will result in an increase of South African wine exports into the Angola market and also our relationship is strengthening with our partners South African Airways, South African Tourism and the South African Embassy in a collective approach to promoting and positioning Brand South Africa.

The event had wide pre-event media coverage and we anticipate more coverage this week.
